Canadian Solo Debut!
Hayato Sumino launched his professional music career by securing the Grand Prix at the PTNA Piano Competition in 2018. His talents were further recognized on an international stage when he became a semi-finalist at the 18th International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 2021.
In 2024, Sumino commenced an extensive tour in Japan, featuring 24 sold-out recitals. That same summer, he will make his debut at three notable music festivals: the Rheingau Musik Festival in Germany, the Gstaad Menuhin Festival in Switzerland, and the Ravinia Festival, where he will also make his debut with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
The 2024/2025 season is packed with notable engagements. Sumino will embark on an 11-concert tour in Japan with the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Marin Alsop. He is set to make his debut at some of Europe’s most esteemed concert halls, including the Berlin Philharmonie, Munich Prinzregententheater, Liederhalle Stuttgart, and Tonhalle Zürich. Additionally, he will perform Olivier Messiaen's "Turangalîla-Symphonie" with the New Japan Philharmonic, conducted by maestro Joe Hisaishi.
A pivotal moment in his career was signing as an exclusive artist with Sony Classical in March 2024, promising to elevate his international stature further. Sumino holds a Master of Engineering from The University of Tokyo Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, where he was awarded The University of Tokyo President's Award in 2020. He is an active presence online, sharing his original compositions and arrangements on his YouTube channel "Cateen," which boasts over 1.3 million subscribers and 170 million views.
As a Steinway Artist and ambassador for CASIO and Apple Music Classical, Hayato Sumino continues to draw global audiences, recognized for his genre-transcending musical explorations.
